For those who have set Wifi Sleep Policy to Never or Never while Plugged in, if you have a problem where wifi doesn’t stay enabled during sleep as expected, do me a favor and send logs. It doesn’t have to be long, just toggle logging on for a second, toggle it off after a few seconds, then send the log.
I just need to see if there’s a common hardware/software version to those having the problem.
Please make sure to indicate in the email when you send the log that you’re having the problem, so I can categorize it.
Thank you very much.
How do we toggle logging on/off? Sorry for the basic question.
No problem. It’s in the help docs, but it’s hard to find there. I need to find a way to make the docs more accessible.
When you hit the menu button in the main screen of the app, if you don’t see Toggle Logging as an option, go to Preferences, then check Enable Logging Menu. Then, when you go back to the main screen you should see Toggle Logging there.
Tap once, and it’ll turn green to tell you logging is enabled. Red means it’s disabled.
Send log is next to that. Choose gmail and it’ll create the email for you which you can then edit.
I have an n1 for at&t that drops connection constantly while sleeping, no matter what setting it is on.
I have found that the type of router GREATLY affects the issue. For example:
1) At University it never drops, works correctly.
2) Verizon’s FiOS router ActionTech(sp?) rarely ever drops me but does sometimes.
3) Asus’s 802.11n router(RT-13U I think) drops me 50/50 while sleeping.
4) My Belkin router drops me 100% of the time, and then many times leads to unsuccessful reconnect after my phone is awoken.
Google tells people that have this issue to send in their phone for a replacement, but a) mine is rooted b) I don’t want a refurb.
I think it’s pretty hopeless(It’s either a hardware or baseband issue I think 😦 ), but I’ll get you some logs asap. I’ve been looking at this issue a lot, and will try and direct people to this post to get their logs.
I have been using Wifi Fixer with great satisfaction, until the most recent update. It longer works for me.
Would it be possible to get hold of the .apk file of the previous version?
It’s certainly possible. But if you don’t mind I’d like to try to figure out what’s going wrong first. If you could send me a log (the help docs show how to do this) of the problem, I’d appreciate it.
The new version should be working better for everyone, so I’d like to see what’s going on.
