If you’re fertilizing a field, and you have your choice of a fertilizer that will grow only one type of plant, or one that fertilizes all plants equally, which do you choose?

A healthy ecosystem demands the latter.

It even protects intellectual property in that only the originator has the title, because the entire paper trail of origin is maintained in most cases.  This also allows the brilliance of the originator to trickle down and fertilize others.

There are business models here.  Google proves it.  Other major names in America and overseas are using open source as theirs.
